Michael Turner sucks at women

I haven't really stayed up-to-date on the superhero comics scene of the last few years, though I have bought the occasional Wizard to try and catch up. A most common occurence is at least 1 splash page advertisement per issue featuring Michael Turner art. Articles describe his rabid fan following as being linked to his ability to depict attractive women. This confounds me.

All his women look exactly alike in all physical respects save for eye color and hair color/style. I know this is true of a lot of artists, but those other artists don't have fans with this insistent "Turner roxxors" mentality. Why is Turner afforded this grace? Also, none of his women have butts! They have flat non-curvy posteriors. Why are they considered sexy? The only indictation that there is a butt anywhere in the vicinity is the thong that Turner shoved in the crack. Otherwise they're just legs running into the waist.

Example found immediately upon Google image search:

No butt! There is no butt there. Here's another example:

Now, we all know why that girl is turned around like that. It's to show the butt. Unfortunately, she left it at home. (This picture actually has the most butt-weight of a Turner drawing I've seen.) Hasn't this guy ever seen a Reef ad?

Bah!

I only know of one thing worse than drawings of Turner females...

Action figures based on drawings of Turner females! (Her face actually looks worse close-up, when you realize her freak eyes are taking over her entire face.)

Shut the hell up, you superficial assholes. According to you, ass is required for a girl to look good. That is complete bullshit. And I don't know where you get your information, but it's obviously out of date. Look at the Civil War #7 Variant, all 3 girls present have their asses exposed and are a perfect normal size. And I don't know what girls you hang out with, but all the girls I know don't match up to the picky size requirements for a normal ass. So I'd shut the hell up now before you spew more shit out of that lavatory you call a brain.

Umm...I'd normally leave an intelligent reply, but your coupling or horrible spelling along with an attempt to impress me with a language that I don't really give a shit about tells me that it'd do more good.

And my art isn't on trial here, you don't even know what it looks like.

Hi, Dorynth! I love it when people respond to blog posts years later.

I see you responded strongly to the ass comments, but did you have anything to say about the other criticisms?

Nothing really, they were just notes on consistency, not trashing someone's particular style. And to me, eye color isn't really all that important. And I don't quite agree with the hairstyle dealio.

Besides, his style sure pulled Starfire out of the 60's:

Dorynth, with regards to the eye color/hair style thing, my criticism was actually that those are the only things that change. He doesn't change the body-type/build, facial construction, or anything else that helps to define someone physically (at least from what I've noticed).

OOH. I see....well, you do have a point there, but that's probably because all the heroines have the same body type: athletic. Unlike guys, who could be either skinny, athletic, or big heavy weights, the girls don't have that much to choose from. And the simplicity of his style (which I personally love; super realistic art doesn't really swing well with me) also messes that up a bit.
